Bone Hunter; Sarah Andrews, pages 353.

Utah's favorite forensic geologist is at it again. This time, Em Hansen in digging in the San Raphael Swell for dinosaur bones.

Em Hansen is a geologist by trade, but has an uncanny knack for landing in the thick of mystery. In Bone Hunter, Ms. Hansen is invited as a guest speaker to a convention of paleontologists in Snowbird. She finds herself in a, world of egos as big as the dinosaurs they study. To make matters interesting, the man with the largest ego, George Dishley, was murdered.

The book is a fast fun read filled with interesting insights in geology, paleonotology and a hint of local color. Em Hansen falls for a local Mormon boy and the key to the mystery revolves around the murder victim's second wife.

I find it fascinating to read about the place I live. We find the characters dodging each other through the streets of Salt Lake, researching ancient history at the Museum of Natural History at the U of U, and eventually driving through Spanish Fork Canyon to the Swell.
